 Fun Activities
Big League Dreams - Submitted by Mark Bogart

If you build it…they will come. And we went. Big League Dreams is a sports complex located in League City, TX complete with 6 baseball/softball fields, a state-of-the-art playground, an indoor soccer/lacrosse venue and batting cage, and concession services. What makes Big League Dreams unique is that the 6 baseball/softball fields are scaled-down replicas of historical major league ballparks. The complex features replicas of Fenway Park, The Polo Grounds, Yankee Stadium, Forbes Field, and Wrigley Field as well as a “Big League Dreams” Feature Field.

Depending upon the day/time a group wishes to reserve the fields, the trip can be relatively inexpensive. We took a group of about 40 high school youth and played two games each on a couple of fields (Wrigley and Fenway). It was incredibly entertaining, the fields are immaculately maintained and the ballparks are breathtakingly authentic.

Girls' Group Summer Bible Study and Ice Cream - Submitted by Carrie Olander

During the summer it's always fun to do things a little differently.  This past summer we did a girls Bible Study once every week where we would go and get ice cream at a different place and then do a short Bible Study.  There are a lot of great places to go get ice cream in Houston.  These were some of our favorites:

Amy's Ice Cream
TCBY
Baskin Robbin's
Dessert Gallery
Bahama Bucks (sno cones)
Cold Stone
Marble Slab

Lifetime Lock-in - Submitted by Sandra Roberson

Lifetime fitness is a great place to have a lock-in. We had one there and they are very organized, structured, and even provide their own staff who is background checked (imagine that!). The lifetime fitness in Katy has two gyms, a rock wall, and an indoor pool with slides. The kids had a blast!

Sights, Sounds, Smells of Christmas - Submitted by Sandra Roberson

Last year we started a Christmas event with our children's ministry that was a huge success. We called it "Sights, Sounds, Smells of Christmas" and held it on a Sunday afternoon during December. We had hot chocolate and coffee from Starbucks and we made caramel apple slices and caramel popcorn for food. Activities included: snow, carriage rides, live nativity, and crafts inside.

Progressive Dinner - Submitted by Heather Gates

Each year around Christmas, the youth do a progressive dinner.  We set up 3-4 houses to go eat at.  Each house volunteers for a different course of a meal.  The youth love it.  It involves a lot of food, which is always a winner and it's a good way to get some adults in your church to get to know the youth.  Several of the people made that night their Adult Sunday School class Christmas party also, so it was a blast.

After eating, we came back to the church to do a gift exchange and just hang out.

Hidden Books of the Bible - Submitted by Tiffin Wilsford

Can you find the 15 hidden books of the Bible within this paragraph?

I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu,
kept people looking so hard for facts, and for others it was a revelation.
Some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books were not
capitalized. But the truth finally struck home to numbers of our readers. To
others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments
for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may
require judges to help them find them. I will quickly admit it usually takes
a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud lamentations when it
can be found. A little old lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can
concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now, for there
really are sixteen names of books of the Bible in this paragraph.
